The Strong, Smart, and Bold Luncheon is an annual fundraiser that benefits the nearly 7,000 girls and families served at Girls Inc. of Alameda County. This year Strong, Smart, and Bold Awards will honor 1992 Olympic Gold Medalist Kristi Yamaguchi, San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris, and Speaker of the California State Assembly Karen Bass respectively.

Girls Inc. programming is based on the belief that young women and girls are inherently important and benefit from programs designed to address their particular needs. Rather than focusing on the problems young women and girls face, Girls Inc. takes an asset-based approach, emphasizing girls' strengths and capabilities, building competencies, and enabling girls to meet the challenges they face.

Girls Inc. supports and incorporates girls' ideas, perspectives, and voices throughout program implementation, development, and evaluation. This youth-centered approach engages girls as problem-solvers, promotes their development, and increases their opportunity to form supportive relationships. Guided by a vision of empowered girls and an equitable society, Girls Inc. has created strong partnerships with local community organizations, schools, government, and health and juvenile justice representatives to accomplish its mission.
