Did you know that four out of five people should be vaccinated against influenza each year? Chances are you know someone who should be protected against this serious virus. To help protect myself and family from the flu, I make sure we all get vaccinated, including my husband and two daughters. As national spokesperson for the American Lung Association's Faces of Influenza program, I encourage all families to make sure their loved ones are vaccinated this flu season.

The Faces of Influenza campaign is a national educational initiative that encourages all families to make sure their loved ones are protected against the flu by getting vaccinated each year.

Influenza is not the common cold. It's a serious respiratory illness that can result in hospitalization or even death. In fact, each year, influenza and its complications results in 226,000 hospitalizations and approximately 36,000 deaths in the U.S. To help protect individuals from this disease and its complications, the CDC recommends seasonal influenza vaccination annually.
